7th Philly City Council District

I am late posting on this; my apologies. The 7th Philadelphia City Council seat has been vacant since Councilman Rick Mariano vacated the seat. the 7th district is 50% Latino and 75% minority. There are three people under consideration for the Democratic spot on the ballot to fill his seat. Maria Quinones Sanchez, Daniel Savage of the 23rd ward or John Sabatina (father of the state representative of the same name) of the 56th Ward. Sabatina doesn't currently live in the ward but says he would move if chosen. the candidate will be chosen by the 12 ward leaders in the district.

City politics is a mystery to me. In the counties candidate selection even at the lowest level is usually made by more than 12 people. In the 13th congressional district, which is split between Philadelphia and Montgomery Co., the difference in the number of people who decide who is endorsed or on the ballot of special elections is astronomical.
